9×12 Encaustic Mixed Media painting, floating on a large black mat in a 22×26″ frame.

Ready to hang. This piece was done in Inktense watercolors underneath layers of beeswax in honor of my volunteer time last summer at Spring Valley Nature Center rearing Monarch butterflies. The miracle of these beautiful creatures will brighten any room in your home.

Description

Encaustic Mixed Media painting is matted and  framed.

This piece has a watercolor underpainting with layers of fused beeswax over the top. The depth that is seen around the Monarch butterfly is incredible. If you look closely, you will see the 3 stages of the Monarch; the caterpillar, the chrysalis (two of them), and then the prominent butterfly.

The inspiration for this comes from my time volunteering at Spring Valley Nature Center in the Monarch Rearing Station. I had the privilege to help rear many beautiful Monarchs and release them to the visitors of the nature center.
